Plant care can be a challenge – after all, every plant has its own unique water needs. LECHUZA makes watering easy! Each LECHUZA planter features a built-in self-watering system inspired by nature. There are three system types to choose from:
Classic system
Just as nature intended, with water reservoir
The classic self-watering system is used for most LECHUZA planters. It comprises the planter, a planter liner or separator and the components of the irrigation set: the supply shaft, water level indicator and the irrigation layer. This special substrate prevents waterlogging while reliably delivering water and nutrients to the roots. It’s so easy to use: Add a layer of the irrigation layer to the separator, set the plant in the pot, fill with substrate or soil and water from above as usual for the first 12 weeks. After that, the plant draws water from the reservoir on its own. The water level indicator shows when it’s time to refill. A drain plug prevents waterlogging when used outdoors.
Wick system
Watering via a wick inserted in the planter liner
This self-watering system uses an absorbent wick to transport water and nutrients to the roots of the plant. The wick system should only be planted with LECHUZA-PON mineral substrate to ensure optimal capillary action and good root aeration. There is usually enough substrate included in the scope of delivery. Simply fill the water reservoir, and the plant receives all the moisture it needs.
Perfect watering for herbs and more without any planting: The included watering stick fits right into one of the holes in the grow pot. Just place the pot in the planter – that’s it. Water is transported from the reservoir to the soil of the pot and directly reaches the roots of the plant.
